It made me wonder:
* isn't it a good thing that not everyone does SEO? if everyone did it, wouldn't you just end up with the status quo?
* I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the take up of SEO amongst dodgy digital dealers is nearer 100% - certainly as a consumer, knowing that SEO is available to the best and the worst makes me less trusting of search engine results.
Keep up the good work - you'll trigger my enthusiastic gene one day I'm sure.Vince Vellumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12370541185314807612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1446373754980807789.post-33805758469194332652011-03-31T10:31:39.679-07:002011-03-31T10:31:39.679-07:00SEO is a zero sum game. The advertising mantra that it is a service providing information was always thin (and did you really ever believe it ?). Now there is transparently minimal marginal value to the recipient of SEO targeting. And you won't expand the attention pie. Too many links to follow that I know maybe relevant. Fatigue. Eye strain. Too many other irresistibly-urgent-even-if-not-important things to do. So feel free to scramble for a slightly bigger slice and maybe defensively you need to. But as the SEO arms race escalates, it is more about manipulation than communication - and returns are diminishing.Guy Crouchbackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556785671964217261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1446373754980807789.post-14496437291430176502011-03-31T10:07:27.874-07:002011-03-31T10:07:27.874-07:00SEO is a zero sum game. Dog Eat Dog. [Obvious ? ...SEO is a zero sum game. Dog Eat Dog. [Obvious ? - stop reading now] The finite resource is attention. The advertising mantra that you are providing an information service was always thin (and did you ever believe it anyway ?). Now the targeting is so extreme there is nothing more to be gained at the recipient end by reading for longer or surfing to more links. No time. Fatigue. Eye-strain. Yes I know it would be good for me but I have lots more urgent-even-if-not-important things to do. More SEO will not increase the size of the attention pie - but yes you may claw a slightly larger slice. So feel free to scramble - and maybe you need to (defensively). But as the SEO arms race escalates it is more about manipulation than communication - and returns are diminishing.Guy Crouchbackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556785671964217261noreply@blogger.com
